Random Thoughts and Rubix Cubes
Here are some random thoughts about random thoughts…I don’t think they are as random as many people make them out to be. To me, they are your brain either working something out, getting you back on track when you get distracted or pushing something important to you to the top of your priority list. That said, this doesn’t mean that every random thought is worth sharing.
For example - I love a Rubix Cube. It represents growing up in the 80’s and the simplicity of games before gaming consoles and the internet. For about 10 years, I have always kept a Rubix Cube on my desk at work. What it means to me is the fun, challenge and skill it takes to solve a problem. To solve the puzzle. I am in awe of people who are in those speed competitions that have been highlighted in documentaries. They have a different perspective that I think most of us - maybe with the exception of chess players - see. They see 10, 15, 20+ moves when they first examine the unsolved Cube, and then, “BAM!” They knock it out in less than a few seconds. Some I have seen using two hands at once. I am not really about the speed element of those competitions, but as I said I am fascinated by how their minds work to solve things, even before a move is made.
Back to reality…The point is, from time to time I will share random thoughts, observations and/or experiences that I think ARE worth sharing. Traveling as much as we are, there will not always be the time (nor the need for certain topics) for fully realized and researched posts, but that doesn’t mean that those are not moments that matter. I hope to give you insight to who I am personally, what inspires me, what excites me and what is troubling to me. This content will likely stray from my original thesis question, but I promise that the random thoughts that make it to this space will adhere to my guiding themes (i.e., Curiosity, Connection, Community and Culture). i hope these might spark some interesting dialog on social media, or send me your thoughts directly through email.
